The Aluminium Bronze Rod for Worm Gears is engineered for power transmission applications. Made from premium Cu-Al-Fe-Ni alloy via hot rolling and annealing, it offers exceptional wear resistance for worm gears under continuous sliding contact and heavy loads .
Parameter | Value |
Material | Aluminium Bronze (Cu 85%, Al 8-10%, Fe 3-5%, Ni 1-2%) |
Diameter Range | 10mm - 150mm (custom lengths up to 6m, ≤0.5mm/m straightness) |
Tensile Strength | 750 - 900 MPa (after heat treatment) |
Hardness | 200 - 260 HB (5mm ball, 750kg load) |
Elongation | 15 - 25% (50mm gauge length) |
Machinability | Good (50% of free-cutting brass) |
Corrosion Resistance | Excellent in atmospheric, marine, and industrial fluids |
High wear resistance from Fe-Al compounds (300% longer life vs. brass)
Superior load capacity (up to 500 Nm for medium gears)
Low friction coefficient (0.15-0.25) against steel worm shafts
Rust-resistant in humid/wet environments
Dimensional stability (-20°C to 180°C, ±0.02mm tolerance)
Ideal for industrial gearboxes, marine propulsion, material handling, and renewable energy turbines. Used in steering systems, elevators, and conveyor drives requiring reliable power transmission .
Q: How does this compare to phosphor bronze?
A: 50% higher tensile strength and 2x better wear resistance for heavy loads.
Q: Can it be heat-treated?
A: Yes, annealing + tempering increases hardness to 260-300 HB.
Q: Lead time for custom diameters?
A: 5-7 days (standard); 10-14 days (custom 100mm-150mm).
